First we spent a few hot July days in Paris. On the left is Aaron, Grandma Flora, dad and Joel at the arc de triomphe and on the right is the Eiffel tower

after which for some peace and quiet we hired a Mercedes C300 automatic diesel and drove to our 400+ year old farmhouse in Brittany (see map) (about 200 miles)

Tis was about 20minutes drive south from Dinan, which is a medieval  town dating back to the 1200s; although most of our grocery shopping was done at the village Lanvallay, which was just a few miles south along the D2 from the gité (at Couaqueux).

Léhon on the bank of the river Race in a deep valley, is a small town of character; for instance the Abbey church dates back to the 1200s.

About an hour's drive north is St. Malo/Dinard a popular destination for summer tourists with good shopping and beaches.  From there you can drive west along the coast; for instance to Cap Frehél's (map) famous lighthouse and nature reserve (right).

In This July 7 the tall ship were visiting St. Malo prior to their race.

You could even go Karting just south of St. Malo

You could also drive south to la Bourbansais (near Pleugueneuc, on the way to Rennes) zoological park and historical chate
âu.  From Rennes, the capital city of Brittany, we would leave the car back and take the TVG train back to Paris and fly back to Dublin.
