Printing History
The Quintessential PIC Microcontroller by S.J. Katzen ISBN 185233309X was published in March 2001 by Springer-Verlag. The first print run was sold out as of October, 2002 and a  reprint with additional material, clarifications and corrections was released in January 2003.  A third reprint followed in January, 2004.  The second edition was published July 2005, ISBN 1-85233-942-X.  This has been extensively rewritten with new material. This edition was produced in USA from the author's typeset material.  A reprint with corrections and some clarifications was published 2007: ISBN 978-1-85233-942-5.

A PIC18-based counterpart, entitled The Essence of the PIC18 Microcontroller, ISBN 978-1-84996-229-2 , e-ISBN 978-1-84996-229-2 was published in hardback July 2010.  This is its website.  You can also get sample pages, request a request copy or on-line version at the Springer web- site.
